About the Program
The Residential Construction Training Program is a workforce training initiative led by the York Builders Association Workforce NOW Foundation, in partnership with the York County Planning Commission, the York County Economic Alliance BLOOM Business Empowerment Center. This hands-on training program is designed to equip participants with the practical skills and foundational knowledge needed for careers in the construction and home repair industries.
Position Summary
We are seeking dedicated and experienced industry professionals to lead training sessions focused on carpentry, insulation, and drywall installation, window/door installation, plumbing repair, roof/gutter repair, weatherization, general construction codes, and tool/material identification and handling. The Instructors will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical instruction during scheduled 5-week sessions. This is a part-time, contract position that averages 10–15 hours per week during program weeks, in addition to time for preparation and planning.
We are seeking multiple instructors to support the program. Flexible scheduling is available for individuals who are not able to attend all sessions. Classes are held in the evenings from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in Red Lion, PA.
The contract term will run through December 2026.
Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person instruction in key areas, including:
- Carpentry and framing
- Insulation/Drywall Installation
- Window/Door Installation
- Plumbing (Repair)
- Roofing/Gutters (Repair)
- Weatherization techniques
- Construction codes and safety practices
- Tool and material identification, use, and safety
- Support hands-on learning experiences for adult learners of varying skill levels
- Provide guidance and mentorship to participants
- Collaborate with program partners and staff to ensure quality instruction
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Participate in planning meetings and report on participant progress
Qualifications
- Professional experience in residential construction, carpentry, or home repair
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with weatherization practices and building codes is a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse learners
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time independently
- Priority will be given to York Builders Association members and their employees
